What is the distinction between 4 x 6 and 6 x 4 ???

Multiplication is one of the important materials in mathematics. This subject also important in our daily life. May be in Indonesia there are many implementation of multiplication as knowledge.One of them in prescription, doctor always writes 3x1, that means one tablet or pill three times in one day. One tablet will consume in the morning, one tablet will consume in the afternoon, and one tablet will consume in the evening.


Back to the main topic, actually what is the different between 4 x 6 and 6 x 4 ?
This problem is one of the student of elementary school doing his homework but his teacher blame his work. So, what's wrong with the answer? 

In the result of 4 x 6 and 6 x 4 is the same, yeah it is 24. If you only see the result,  but in fact it is different if its back to the foundation or concept of multiplication.

Multiplication is repeated addition

4 x 6 = 6+6+6+6 = 24
6 x 4 = 4+4+4+4+4+4 = 24

from explanation above it is true that teacher blame his students work, may be get the same result but 4 x 6 is not the same with 6 x 4. It is different!

Many people may think this is trivial problem. But if it abandon from elementary school it will make fatal understanding in the next level of education, especially in mathematics. Thanks
